Yesterday MediaTek announced their new 4K smart chip, MT9638. The new features include MEMC, VRR, AI voice assistant, AI super-resolution, and AI picture quality. This new premium chip has got some serious features under its sleeves so let’s take a look at these specifications.
The chip is capable of recognizing the real-time content and adjust the brightness, sharpness, smart noise reduction, and more features. With the MEMC and VRR technology the chip enhances the resolution and improves the overall image quality. The premium chip also intelligently upscales resolution using multi-frame blending technology to give the user clearer images at their TV’s native resolution.
The MediaTek chip features some advanced features which include HDR10+ display support along with full-array backlight dimming with more than 2000+ zones. The chip supports till 4K60 resolution accompanied by a multimedia decoding engine for HEVC, VP9, and the latest AV1 content. For providing better audio quality the chip includes Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual X Surround Sound support. The chip is equipped with a multi-core Arm Cortex-A55 as CPU and an Arm Mali-G52 as GPU. The chip also has a dedicated MediaTek APU integrated into a single chip.
As for the connectivity, the chip supports giga-bit class Wi-Fi 6 and also includes a USB 3.0 port along with the support of HDMI 2.1 which integrates the support for VRR and it also allows you to connect your consoles which is going to attract a lot of gamers. As per the reports MediaTek has shipped more than 2 billion units of its new premium chip globally.
